Support for Working Families

America’s prosperity should be shared with all–especially
the working families whose labor make it all possible.

Today, too many parents are spending every waking hour working multiple jobs to make rent and put food on the table. Enough. Working families are the backbone of this country and it’s long past time to demand a living wage for all workers.

  1. The federal minimum wage has not changed in the past 10 years. It should be raised today to ensure a living wage for all workers, and must include cost of living increases to keep pace with inflation.

  2. We need a national paid family leave so that families can come first. No one should have to choose between making ends meet and providing care for loved ones in need.

  3. Every family should have access to affordable, high-quality child care. Worrying about a child should not hold anyone back from working.

  4. Equal pay for equal work. The days of working women earning pennies on the dollar for the same work as a man must be consigned to the past.

  5. We must restore our labor movement to ensure stability and dignity for working Americans. We have unions to thank for health insurance, the minimum wage, and weekends, and attacks against working families are far from over.
